Jamaica Bay is the largest open space in New York City and is home to an amazing diversity of wildlife, counting more than 330 bird species and more than 100 kinds of fish. Next weekend is your chance to see this incredible place up-close, while supporting not one but two good causes!

Dan Hendrick, who is producing the first-ever documentary film on the bay called Jamaica Bay Lives!, and the American Littoral Society are teaming up to bring you a fantastic three-hour sunset cruise on Saturday, September 28th, starting at 3:30 p.m.

Renowned naturalists Don Riepe and Mickey Cohen will lead this narrated tour of the bay’s rarely seen backwater marshes, with opportunities to enjoy fantastic vistas, saltwater breezes and a tremendous variety of birds including sandpipers, plovers, egrets, herons and other shorebirds.

The cruise will end with a beautiful sunset highlighting the contrasting skylines of Jamaica Bay and New York City. In addition to having a great time, you will support two great organizations working to protect this special place. This special event is perfect for adults and kids alike.
