SHANAH TOVAH

BP MARKOWITZ STATEMENT ON THE CELEBRATION OF THE JEWISH NEW YEAR

"My wife Jamie and I would like to offer 'l'shanah tovah u'metukah', wishes for a good and sweet year, as we embark on the beginning of the Jewish New Year, 5774. As you know, Brooklyn is proud home to the largest population of Jews outside of Israel – a special distinction that has helped Brooklynites forge an indestructible bond with the Jewish people here and across the Diaspora. As Rosh Hashanah is a holiday of renewal and rebirth, it is fitting that we take this time to recommit ourselves to the goals of inclusion and peace. We must continue to strive for a world where differences are met not with the barrel of a gun, but with understanding and a spirit of fellowship and compassion. May we all be inscribed and sealed in the Book of Life for the coming year."
