NO EMPTY DRESS

Dear Lucas,

Republicans want control of the U.S. Senate, and it could all come down to Kentucky.

The Republican leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, is in big trouble back home. His challenger, Alison Lundergan Grimes, is Kentucky's Secretary of State and a popular figure in Kentucky. The polls are showing this race neck-and-neck – with some showing her leading McConnell by a slim margin.

But McConnell and his right-wing Super PAC allies have deep pockets, and they have already spent nearly $2 million in false attacks against Alison. But that's not all. This month, McConnell's campaign operatives sank even lower – saying that Alison is "an empty dress" and "incapable of articulating her own thoughts."

Last year, when Republicans and their Super PACs attacked me, it was your grassroots support that helped me fight back.

Now, I'm asking for your help to ensure my friend Alison can do the same. In Washington, Alison will join me in fighting to cut through the political gridlock and deliver real results for Americans. But first, she needs our support to ensure she gets there.

Alison has set an ambitious end of quarter goal of 10,000 new grassroots donors. Will you join me in making a contribution to her campaign before September 30th? Just $5 can make a big difference.

This is a real chance to win in Kentucky – and this race could be the key in our efforts to keep our Democratic majority in the U.S. Senate. We need leaders like Alison who will fight to achieve equal pay for women, protect Social Security and Medicare for our seniors and work to achieve meaningful results that will move our country forward.

Alison has what it takes to win. The nonpartisan Cook Political Report has rated the Kentucky Senate race as a "toss up" and three polls show Alison leading Senator McConnell within the margin of error. But Mitch McConnell won't go out without a fight. He is going to spend millions on negative and misleading attacks, and Alison needs your help to fight back.

With your support, I know she can. Will you click here and help Alison reach her end of quarter fundraising goal of 10,000 new grassroots donors? Just $5 can make a big difference.

Sincerely,

Debbie Stabenow
United States Senator
