Lucas,
Laugh or you'll sob.
Yesterday afternoon, Texas GOP Senator Ted Cruz took to the floor of the Senate and ranted for literally hours -- the point was to justify denying healthcare to MILLIONS of women and families. But somewhere between the breaks he took and the kids' book he read, the point got a little lost. He only showed the extreme lengths the GOP will go just to roll back our progress.
And despite his vow to speak until he was "no longer able to stand," he took a breather about an hour later. Guess he wanted to be fresh for primetime news.
Maybe he got the idea from fellow Texan Wendy Davis -- but he didn't come close to matching her 13-hour no-break on-topic marathon. And let's not forget that Wendy was fighting for women's healthcare and Ted Cruz was fighting to deny women's healthcare.
We've really got to get rid of a Republican Party that will stop work in the Senate -- and threaten to shut down the government, just to keep Americans from having access to affordable healthcare.
This is why we fight for our women in Congress -- to put more pro-choice Democratic women in office who'll stand up to the extremist GOP. Donate $3 now to help us do even more!
We need more of the women who will stop the GOP from using ridiculous tactics like shutting down the government, regardless of the fact that it will drastically affect the health of women and families.
Help us do it.
