We're about to send two things to Colorado state Senators John Morse and Angela Giron: a card thanking them for fighting for us (which you can sign here, if you haven't yet), and this map:
Every dot on that map is a Democrat who donated to defend Senators Giron and Morse against Republican-backed recall efforts. If you gave to the cause, one of those dots is probably you.
The map doesn't show everyone who gave their support: Donations also came in from Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Americans living abroad. Plus, some donors who gave in the critical final hours may not be represented here.
But the point is, this was a truly nationwide effort. We came together not just as activists, not just as a Democratic Party, but as a nation to fight for what we believe.
The results didn't go the way any of us wanted, but this team approach is the one and only way Democrats can compete with the likes of Karl Rove, the Koch Brothers, and everyone else who's flooding our politics with right-wing money.
We need to bring that same team approach to the nationwide fight ahead, starting with critical off-year races in Virginia, Washington State, and everyplace in between. Then in 2014, we'll continue rolling back the Tea Party tide and repairing the damage they've caused in states across the country.
We need you for that fight. We got a reminder this week of just how tough it's going to be, but victory is flat-out impossible without support from across the country from Democrats like you.
