HE'S CELERBATING THESE VICTORIES

Dear Friends,

This past Tuesday's Primary Elections were a clear victory for a more progressive New York City. As many of you know I was extremely active this past summer on more than a dozen races throughout the City helping friends and colleagues to change the face of New York City government.

While I'm sad for my friend Speaker Christine Quinn I know that she will go on to do great things. I congratulate Public Advocate Bill de Blasio for running a powerful and compelling campaign that spoke to inequality in our City. I look forward to working with him in making our City a better place for all New Yorkers.

We scored tremendous victories with Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer being elected to become New York City's next Comptroller and Melinda Katz for Queens Borough President.

I had endorsed and supported 11 City Council candidates and I'm proud to say every single one of them won. Those returning and new colleagues are:

  • District 1: Margaret Chin
  • District 2: Rosie Mendez
  • District 3: Corey Johnson
  • District 7: Mark Levine
  • District 15: Ritchie Torres
  • District 22: Costa Constantinides
  • District 31: Donovan Richards
  • District 33: Stephen Levin
  • District 34: Antonio Reynoso
  • District 35: Laurie Cumbo
  • District 38: Carlos Menchaca

Within these competitive races we were able to elect as well as re-elect Progressive leaders who will help take our City in a new direction. Congratulations to all.

I am proud to have been a part of each of these races and I know that as we move forward together we will continue to make a difference for New Yorkers for years to come.

I want to thank all the members of Team JVB who volunteered on my race and so many of these important victories.

Sincerely,

Jimmy Van Bramer

New York City Council Member
