Last week, the House finally approved a bill that re-opened the government and avoided a debt default. This is good news, but it came after a shutdown that went on far too long, harming our economy, millions of federal employees, seniors, and veterans.
I am cautiously optimistic this marks the end of Ted Cruz's dangerous influence over his allies in the House who obstructed a reasonable agreement for too long.
Thank you for standing with me in the last few weeks to call on my Republican colleagues to end the shutdown and pay America's bills. It means so much to have your support, and together we sent a strong message about the need for practical solutions.
