Dear Lucas,
I don't know how to thank you for all you've done for this campaign and for me.
Everyone who invited someone to your house party. Everyone who was out knocking doors, making calls, and on the street asking someone else to vote, or who wrote or signed a letter to your neighbors. You built this race -- and your continued involvement will drive the politics and the change that will make our city an even greater place.
From the bottom of my heart, you have my deepest gratitude.
We ran this campaign making the case that the Public Advocate's office can be essential to our city – getting results for New Yorkers who need them. Together, we drove that conversation.
And now, please join me in wishing Tish James congratulations on being chosen to be our next Public Advocate -- I know she will fight for New Yorkers who are left out.
Although we did not win last night, I will keep on doing what I've always believed in -- fighting for New Yorkers and a city I truly love.
