Lucas --
After pressure from ProgressNC Action, the press and other progressive groups, all but two of North Carolina's House Members who voted for the shutdown have given up their Congressional paychecks. But Republicans Howard Coble and Walter Jones, Jr. have not. They still want to get government funds while denying them to federal employees. That's wrong.
We're going to deliver almost 20,000 signatures to Congressmen Coble and Jones and we want to take a familiar face along. Since they've been absent from the debate about paychecks, we want to bring cardboard cutouts with messages calling for them to give up their pay. Here's a picture of "Cardboard Coble" to the right. He's even got his own personal hashtag.
Help us pay for the cutouts and travel to their districts with a donation of $5 or more today.
We'll have Representatives Coble and Jones, or at least their likenesses, join us in delivering the petitions to their district offices. "Cardboard Coble & Jones" will also visit people and places harmed by the shutdown in their Congressional districts.
Thanks for all you do.
