LIU ON OBAMACARE

LIU ON THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT

New York City Comptroller John C. Liu stated the following yesterday on implementation of the Affordable Care Act:

"The Affordable Care Act means more coverage and lower rates, yet extreme members of Congress keep trying to scuttle it – including with the shutdown. Enough with the political grandstanding. Under the ACA, over half a million uninsured New York City residents are projected to gain private and public health insurance coverage starting in January. Over 60 percent of the expected new enrollees are black or Hispanic. More than 200,000 are low- and moderate-income individuals who will be eligible for subsidies to further reduce the cost of health insurance purchased through the new statewide exchange. Obamacare is clearly good for New York."
