EXCERPTS - Bill de Blasio now has his three top former Democratic opponents in his corner, landing the endorsement Tuesday of City Controller John Liu. “We need change,” Liu said, standing with de Blasio outside the city Municipal Building, where both men have their offices. “We need a New York and a mayor who’s going to be for all people and I believe Bill de Blasio will be that mayor that we need.”
De Blasio said he looks forward to stumping with his one-time rival - who famously packed his schedule with event after event, often scheduling more than a dozen a day. “We are both roll up your sleeves campaigners. I’m going to try and match his energy level, which is extraordinary,” he said. “John and I often I think offered very similar views of the things we had to do to create fairness in this town,” de Blasio said.
