HE NEEDS TO WALK IN WITH CASH

Lucas,

There's so much uncertainty right now, about really important things.

  • Will radical Republicans in Congress let the government get back to work?
  • Will Tea Party fanatics force the United States to default, risking another financial meltdown, if we don't let them dismantle Medicare and Social Security?
  • Will Wall Street succeed in undermining even the modest restrictions put in place after its greed nearly destroyed the global economy just five short years ago?
  • Will the Supreme Court issue another ruling that further mocks the principles of democracy and hands still more control over our elections to billionaires and Big Business?

Here's one thing I know with absolute certainty:

Public Citizen will never stop fighting the insane idea that profits matter more than people. (And if you really think about it, "insane" is the right word, isn't it?)

When I say Public Citizen, I mean you and 300,000 members and supporters like you from coast to coast.

And now, perhaps more than ever, this country desperately needs what Public Citizen provides.

That's why I'm writing.

In days, Public Citizen's board of directors will meet to formalize our programmatic and budgetary plans for 2014.

I need to be able to walk into my board meeting this Friday and show that our supporters are behind us.

Show our board of directors that you want Public Citizen to be as aggressive as it possibly can be going forward — contribute $5 or more right now.

We have to be the force that stands up to corporate power and collectively roars "No!" as we demand — and win — policies that work for everyone, not just the richest of the rich.

I know we can be that force, because it's what you and me and everyone else who is part of this shared project called Public Citizen has been doing for over four decades.

And we can't stop now.

Remember, what you're able to give in the next 72 hours will make a difference for the entirety of the next year.

Please donate today.

Thank you.

P.S. If you've donated to Public Citizen recently, thank you. If you can, please consider contributing again as we set our budget for the coming year.
