BLAME OBAMA FOR EVERYTHING

Lucas,

A recent survey found that almost one-third of Republicans in a particular state blame President Obama for something the federal government handled badly.

The state?

Louisiana.

The something?

Hurricane Katrina — which happened more than three years before Obama was even elected president.

My point?

People like you and me who are fighting for progress can take NOTHING for granted.

Whether because of confusion, misinformation, willful ignorance, petty partisanship, rabid ideology, blind hatred or sheer greed, ours is — at the risk of understatement — an uphill battle.

But as part of Public Citizen, you work to counteract those kinds of darker impulses in a meaningful way, every day.

And right now, you can leverage an opportunity to push us twice as far up that hill.

A benefactor has offered up to $50,000 to match whatever you contribute today dollar-for-dollar. But only if you donate before we close the books on our current fiscal year at midnight tomorrow, September 30.

Make a contribution right now.

Public Citizen is an independent, nonpartisan organization.

We've worked with the Obama administration to make progress on key pieces of legislation, regulatory rulings and agency appointments.

We've also pushed the president when he's shown too much favor to corporate interests.

Of course, we don't blame President Obama for anything related to Hurricane Katrina.

But a lot of people do.

And that's the kind of obstacle you and I have to find a way around, over or through as we forge together the path to a safer, healthier and fairer world.

So I hope you'll chip in something — whether it's $5 or $500 — today to make sure we have the financial strength we need to take the next steps along that path.

I'm glad you're by my side.

Sincerely,

P.S. Please remember, whatever you contribute right now will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, up to $50,000 — as long as you donate before the midnight deadline tomorrow.
