The ASPCA's Field Investigations and Response team is currently on the ground in Spokane, Washington, assisting our friends Spokane County Regional Animal Protective Services (SCRAPS) with the sheltering and daily care of 63 horses removed from an abandoned property. We're giving these animals the care and love they've been denied for too long.
Severely emaciated and dehydrated, the horses had no access to water or acceptable food—some of them were in such bad shape that they required immediate medical attention to keep them alive.
Animal cruelty doesn't always take the form of violence—it sometimes takes the form of an owner walking away from her responsibilities. The results for the animal victims are just as tragic. We're thankful that your support allows us to be the safety net for neglected, abandoned animals desperately in need of care.
Our team will spend Thanksgiving healing these horses, physically and emotionally. Caring for this many horses is an enormous undertaking and a huge commitment, but we are determined to be there for animal victims of cruelty whenever they need us. Please join the ASPCA in taking a stand against cruelty and donate today. On behalf of animals across the country, we thank you!
