Rossana Rosado's Last Words
as Publisher of El Diario-La Prensa
Note: On her last day as El Diario Publisher before she begins her new role as "Publisher Emeritus," Rossana Rosado sent me the warm and clearly heartfelt corporate message below of both hope and dismay. In it she basically admits that because of her leaving, this will be "a new era for El Diario and one that is full of promise." As I sit here awash in a pool of tears, thinking of the days when I first met that young, enterprising and once idealistic copy writer at "El Campeon de los Hispanos" three decades ago, I wish her well as she strikes out in new directions and begins "with CEO Monica Lozano on an exciting and important 2014 initiative for ImpreMedia." My hope is that, as she moves forward, that she never ever again gets caught in traffic. ¡Siempre pa'lante!

While I appreciate the outpouring of support and well wishers I am also dismayed that my personal decision to pursue other interests could be misconstrued as an "end of El Diario". El Diario has just completed its 100th year and is positioned to continue to serve New York's Latino community. Except for a reorganization of the finance team, and my departure, El Diario's Executive team has remained intact under the new ownership. Over the last year, these new owners have made a significant investment in circulation growth.
We have celebrated the 100th anniversary with a multitude of community groups and leaders and our entire staff is not only reflective of the New York Latino community but also greatly invested in its well being. I am working with CEO Monica Lozano on an exciting and important 2014 initiative for ImpreMedia.
It is the beginning of a new century and a new era for El Diario and one that is full of promise.
