Dear Friends,
I'm humbled and honored by the trust placed in me by the people of Queens yesterday. For months, this campaign has been about confronting the challenges facing working families in our borough — whether by stimulating responsible economic development in Flushing, creating truly affordable housing in Jackson Heights, or protecting the Rockaways from future storms.
Last night's results show New Yorkers across this city share our vision, and know it's time to end the tale of two cities in New York. I'm proud of the race we ran, grateful to all our volunteers and supporters, and look forward to working with Mayor-elect de Blasio from Borough Hall to take on the inequality crisis in our city.
Most of all though, I want to thank you for all the work that you've done for the campaign. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for all the phone calls you made and the doors you knocked, your willingness to stand with me at events, and for your constant support and trust. Together, we can change Queens for the better. I can't wait to get started.
