Dear Lucas,
State lawmakers are on the verge of major changes to our state's election laws. New restrictions on Early Voting, Same-Day Registration and Voter ID will make it harder for voters to vote.
If these proposals become law, North Carolina will see a replay of Florida's election disaster in 2012. 6-hour waits to vote. The sick and elderly forced to wait outside for hours, often without seating and regardless of the weather. Thousands of voters disenfranchised.
Some politicians in Raleigh claim they are saving money by slashing Early Voting. But the state Board of Elections disputes that claim -- and we know what this is really about. Politicians captured by narrow special interests are trying to make it harder for voters to vote.
We need to make a statement.
We need it to be loud.
We need it to be bold.
What better than... a pink flamingo!
Tell our state lawmakers, "WE ARE NOT FLORIDA" by buying a pink flamingo lawn ornament for just $10. Buy one today and we'll post it right in the lawn of the NC Legislative Building.
Flamingos may love to stand around all day baking in the sun, but that doesn't mean you should. You shouldn't have to pass an endurance test just to exercise your right to vote!
Chip in $10 right now and we'll make a bold statement, together. Let's keep North Carolina's Early Voting policies as they are and avoid long lines at the polls!
Thanks!
