NO, TO INTERNET SALES TAX

Patriot,

Harry Reid (D-NV) and his cronies want to change the internet as you know it by stopping all of the great, cheap deals and free shipping offered to consumers online. They are holding a vote this coming [today] Monday, May 6that will make shopping on the Internet more expensive than buying in a retail store.

With the Obama's full blessing, Harry Reid will ram through another massive tax increase on the backs of American consumers who have become dependent upon online shopping. E commerce has been a boon to American entrepreneurship and our way of life, yet these tax-and-spend liberals can't help themselves from seeking more ways to fund their entitlement programs

Inappropriately titled the Marketplace Fairness Act
(S. 743), this legislation would mandate that online businesses collect sales taxes for all of America's estimated 9,600 state and local taxing authorities!

The complexity to comply would raise consumer costs, while small and medium-sized businesses scramble to keep track of thousands of different tax codes to conduct business via the Web. This legislation also would empower bureaucrats to audit businesses that don't comply -- levying stiff penalties and interest on top of the tax bill!

Concern and complexity could force businesses to stop selling out of state, stunting growth and driving down the economy even further!

Informed Americans aren't buying this latest lie coming from Washington -- that the Marketplace Fairness Act will somehow "level the playing field" for big business, while recouping lost tax revenues for individual states. A recent Zogby poll suggests that, by a margin of two-to-one, Americans oppose the "Internet Sales Tax."

Small-business owners also dislike the plan because it forces them to shift their focus from innovation and growth to complying with complicated tax codes in each of the 46 states with sales tax.
