LIU ON CRASH OF 911 SYSTEM

LIU STATEMENT ON E911 CRASH

NEW YORK, N.Y. – City Comptroller John C. Liu said the following about the May 29 crash of the City's Emergency 911 system:

"Reports that the E911 computer system crashed May 29 drive home the need to make sure our safety isn't held hostage to troubled technology that can only be maintained by an outside consultant. As I wrote to Mayor Bloomberg on May 10, we need to make sure that there is an appropriate transfer of knowledge of the E911 system in-house so that City employees can provide the required system maintenance."
