Dear Lucas,
As May begins, let me tell you about our fantastic April.
Last month I announced plans to transform the long-vacant Kingsbridge Armory into the world's largest indoor ice facility. The Kingsbridge National Ice Center will feature nine year-round ice rinks, and is expected to draw more than two million visitors a year. This project will generate jobs and massive economic activity in The Bronx and – most significantly – will not cost taxpayers a single penny.
Kingsbridge is exactly this kind of public-private partnership that I'm committed to bringing to The Bronx – opening the doors of our great borough to show the world the amazing potential of doing business here. And we've proven that we can bring this kind of investment in The Bronx.
Last month I also celebrated the fourth anniversary of my election as the 13th Bronx Borough President. It's hard to imagine that it's already been four years. But that means that I have to get ready to run for re-election this year, and that's where you come in.
I need you to be a part of what we're doing in The Bronx, and to help me win a second term as Borough President. During the last four years, we've brought millions of dollars in infrastructure investment and new affordable housing to the Bronx. Since I was elected, dozens of public schools in The Bronx have received an investment from my office to help improve our children's education. We've brought new jobs and new economic development – and while things are still tough, they're getting better every day.
And on a personal note, last month I celebrated my 40th birthday – but I don't feel any older because being Borough President keeps me young! I love my job, I love serving my community, and I'd be honored to have your support to win a second term.
