Lucas,
Over the last few months, I’ve been speaking to audiences across the country about what we all accomplished together in the 2012 election.
We elected record-breaking numbers of women, people of color, and LGBTQ folks to Congress, ensuring that our government increasingly reflects the diversity of our country. That was quite a victory for equality!
Perhaps even more importantly, by voting for President Obama’s vision, we demonstrated that we’re a strong pro-equality majority in this country. We believe in a future of equal responsibility and equal opportunity.
But we can’t think the fight is over! In fact, it’s even more important that we protect our champions of equality in 2014. Many of them come from battleground districts where conservatives are anxious to take back the seat they lost in 2012.
We have to protect our champions the same way we elected them—by every one of us stepping up! Today, I need your urgent help for my friend, Louise Slaughter, who has never stopped fighting for equality.
March 31st is the first critical Federal Election Commission (FEC) deadline and all eyes are on Democrats. The media will use their fundraising totals as a measure of their strength, as an indication of whether voters will continue to fight for champions of equality or if 2012 was just a fluke (pun intended).
That's why I am helping my friend Louise to meet her goal before the deadline. Can you help out today? Even just $3 helps send a message.
Thank you for always standing with me and for continuing to fight for equality. Please help my friend Louise before the deadline.
