SEQUESTRATION IS GRIMM!

Dear Lucas,

This weekend, sequestration became a reality and the effects to New York City will be just devastating.

Hundreds of millions of dollars will be cut from critical programs in New York City that are vital to economic growth and the middle class. The programs on the chopping block include support for our schools, first responders, seniors, and children living in poverty.

It sounds bad because it is.

Most devastating to the people of Staten Island and Southern Brooklyn—the sequester will cut $500 million in aid for Superstorm Sandy.

With all of this at stake, why did Michael Grimm and John Boehner refuse to budge?

Because to do so, they'd have to put aside the political grandstanding and come to the table to negotiate a balanced approach to our deficit problem. They’d have to consider eliminating tax loopholes for oil companies, millionaires and billionaires, and private jet owners. They’d have to actually govern.

With priorities like these, it's never been more important for Democrats to win back the house. Help bring commonsense back to Congress by joining my campaign with a donation of $15 today!

Enough is enough. The fiscal health of our country shouldn’t be a Republican or Democratic issue. It’s an American issue.

And, it's on each of us to speak up for a change.

I’m running for Congress because I believe we need a leader who cares more about results than political charades. As a Democrat in the New York City Council, I have worked with Republicans to bring real results to the people of Staten Island and Southern Brooklyn.

I promise to continue to be that kind of leader in Congress.

If you agree that there needs to be a change in Washington, I hope you’ll join my campaign. Donate $15 to my campaign today and help send the Republicans in Congress a Message!

Respectfully yours,

Domenic M. Recchia, Jr.
