READY FOR PRE-K?

Dear New Yorker,

Children born in 2009 who live in New York City are eligible for free pre-kindergarten (pre-k) programs at public elementary schools and community-based organizations (CBOs).

Below is some important information that we just received from the NYC Department of Education (DOE) about how families can apply:

Public School Pre-K Programs

  • Apply between March 4 - April 5, 2013
  • Admissions is not first-come, first-served

Community-Based Organization (CBO) Pre-K Programs

  • Ongoing application process
  • Contact CBOs directly to apply
  • Admissions policies vary by CBO

2013-2014 Pre-Kindergarten Directory and Flyer

The Pre-Kindergarten Directory is available online, at enrollment offices, and at public elementary schools with pre-kindergarten programs. The Directory will help families learn about the pre-k admissions process and available program options. The pre-k flyer is available here (in English and translated versions).

Pre-Kindergarten Information Sessions

Families are invited to attend an information session where they can learn more about pre-k admissions for the 2013-2014 school year. All information sessions will be held from 6:00 – 7:30 pm.
