Dear Lucas,
If your kids or neighbors were in trouble, would you simply walk away?
Chances are you would try to help, like any good New Yorker.
Unfortunately, the Bloomberg Administration takes pride in walking away from schools and communities. Instead of fixing schools that are underperforming and giving our students the support they need, they simply close down the schools, disturbing the lives of children and families.
Over the last few weeks, I have campaigned on a very simple promise: When I'm mayor,I will never walk away from our schools or neighborhoods. If schools are in trouble, we will work to improve them, not give up on them.
Thanks to my advocacy, Mayor Bloomberg's allies are targeting my campaign, claiming I don't support "progress" – as if progress is judged by how many schools they shut down.
If you believe our city should focus on improving schools and supporting our communities, instead of giving up on them, support our campaign.
Together, we can change the direction of our city's education policy and make sure we never walk away from our schools and neighborhoods.
Yours truly,
