THE MAYOR IS PLAYING GAMES

LIU STATEMENT ON E911 RESPONSE TIMES

New York City Comptroller John C. Liu said the following on the Administration's testimony at the City Council hearing on the E911 call system's problems:

"With Emergency Medical Service calls about to reach their annual peak, Mayor Bloomberg is playing games with the public on E911 response times. And he's playing games with public safety when he leaves knowledge of the E911 system solely in the hands of outside consultants who have so terribly botched things. He needs to ensure that the Verizon contract expiring June 30 is replaced with one that transfers knowledge of the call center system to City employees."

An average of total EMS incidents from January 2001 through May 2013 shows that the peak occurs during warm weather. Source: Fire Department of New York
