LIU STATEMENT ON PACIFIC LIBRARY BRANCH
New York City Comptroller John C. Liu stated the following about the Brooklyn Public Library's plan to keep its Pacific branch:
"We are thankful that Brooklyn's historic Pacific library branch is being saved—at least for now. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the Brooklyn Heights library branch and many other civic treasures across our City. From libraries to school sites to NYCHA properties, Mayor Bloomberg has used his waning time in office to sell off some of the City's most important assets to wealthy developers. This trend of parceling out what rightfully belongs to all New Yorkers must come to a stop."
