51% Consumers and Investors Believe U.S. is in A Recession
Saturday, June 08, 2013
The Rasmussen Consumer Index, which measures consumer confidence on a daily basis, rose by a point on Saturday to 99.6. Consumer confidence is down six points from a week ago and five points from a month ago but is up seven points from three months ago.
Fifty-one percent (51%) of adult consumers believe that the U.S. economy is currently in a recession, but 28% disagree.
The Rasmussen Consumer Index and Investor Indexes are derived from nightly telephone surveys of 500 adults and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. The baseline for the Index was established at 100.0 in October 2001. Readings above 100.0 indicate that confidence is higher than in the baseline month.
