Earlier this week, the United States House of Representatives passed the most extreme anti-choice legislation in decades. The bill would dramatically restrict women's access to reproductive health care.

In New York State, Governor Cuomo's 10-point Women's Equality Act to break down the barriers of discrimination and inequality based on gender seems to be stalled as the State Senate Republicans won't let it come to a vote.

And even here in New York City, women right now make up only one-third of the City Council, and that number is likely to drop significantly after this year's election.

If we don't start pushing forward, the right wing will continue to push us back.

We must fight back, and I ask for your help.

I'm running for the City Council because as Kirsten Gillibrand says, woman must get "off the sidelines." I've been a strong neighborhood volunteer, an effective Board member of NARAL ProChoiceNY and a respected elected member of the Democratic State Committee. I have been in the trenches fighting for reproductive freedom, equality and basic justice.
