Dear New Yorker,
In response to the recent series of attacks against LGBT New Yorkers, the New York City Council is teaming up with the Center for Anti-Violence Education to offer free self-defense trainings around the City.
These trainings will teach violence prevention strategies and help provide our community with the tools that we need to stay safe, especially during Pride Month.
The kick-off class will be held this Saturday, June 8th, at the LGBT Center, located at 208 West 13th Street in the Greenwich Village, beginning at 4 pm. An additional evening class has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 12th, at the Hudson Guild Elliot Center, located at 441 West 26th Street in Chelsea, beginning at 7 pm. Additional self-defense classes in Brooklyn and Queens will be announced in the coming weeks.
Reservations are required, and space is limited, so please call (212) 788-5613 or email events@council.nyc.gov to RSVP.
