NOW-NYC, the New York City chapter of the National Organization for Women, announced it is endorsing Yetta Kurland for City Council in the 3rdDistrict. This key endorsement comes just as the Women's Equality Agenda is being debated in Albany. The organization highlighted Kurland's decades of work for equality and her record of commitment to her community.

Sonia Ossorio, President, of NOW-NYC said "Whether it be in the courtroom or out on the streets, Yetta Kurland has a remarkable record in advocating for women's rights. NOW-NYC is proud to stand behind her, as the proven progressive and independent voice in her race for City Council in the 3rd District. "

Yetta Kurland, a 45-year-old civil rights attorney, educator, small business owner, and community activist, will add this to a large list of endorsements she has been piling up, including from many women's groups Speaking to supporters, Kurland said "From equal pay, to paid sick days, to fighting harassment and discrimination, women's voices have never been needed more in NYC government. I will work hard so that women, and all New Yorkers, have access to educational opportunities, job opportunities and full equality under the law.

I could not be prouder to be endorsed NOW-NYC and their thousands of members. The National Organization of Women, and in specific it's NYC chapter has been on the forefront of the women's movement and in the leadership of NYC's most important social justice issues. It has been an honor to stand alongside them and I look forward to partnering with them as the next City Councilmember from the 3rd District.
