FOUR DEPUTY PUBLIC ADVOCATES?

Lucas

I believe the office of the Public Advocate can – and should – do much more.

To give the people of New York a Public Advocate that delivers for them, the office needs a new structure and vision.

My work as a Deputy Public Advocate and as a non-profit leader have been built around bringing together partners from different spheres, finding innovative solutions and creating real opportunities.

As Public Advocate, I will establish four Deputy Public Advocates, each of whom will be a leading voice speaking out for New Yorkers on the issues that impact our City and its residents: education innovation; affordable housing; women and the elderly; and jobs and the economy.

(Click here to read more details in my op-ed in Huffington Post).

Imagine having a Deputy Public Advocate for Women and the Elderly ready to advocate for our senior centers and services; attack gender discrimination, or work to eradicate sex trafficking in our communities.

Imagine a Deputy Public Advocate for Education Innovation driving bigger and better DREAM scholarships, or working with educators to develop new curricula to get our kids ready for the jobs of today and tomorrow.

This team of Advocates will work night and day to create opportunities that will benefit all New Yorkers.

In the coming weeks and months, I will be laying out the specifics on how each of these Deputy Advocates will shape this office to make it a strong foundation for creating and protecting opportunities for every family in our City.

If you believe in the power of opportunity, like I do, please sign up to get involved with our campaign. Get Involved.

Thank you for your continued support,

Reshma
