ANDREW WANTS TO CLEAN UP ALBANY

email_header 2

Dear Friend,

For far too long New York's electoral process, campaign finance system, and public corruption laws have been inadequate, obsolete, and in desperate need of reform.

That's not acceptable.

Before being elected, Governor Cuomo was one of the most aggressive Attorney Generals on public corruption in modern history. He put State Comptroller Alan Hevesi behind bars and launched the investigation that led to the conviction of Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada Jr.

This year once again we have seen instances of corruption and wrongdoing exposed in the legislature. The Governor is seizing this opportunity to push for the most comprehensive reform package Albany has seen in decades. This legislation would combat public corruption, give voters a greater voice at the ballot and end the corroding influence of money in politics.

The Governor's three-part reform package includes:

  • A Public Trust Act that would create a new class of public corruption crimes and enhance New York prosecutors' ability to crack down on public corruption.
  • Voting Reforms that will allow sixteen and seventeen year olds to pre-register to vote, expand access to the ballot for candidates, and allow greater flexibility for affidavit ballots to be counted.
  • Campaign Finance Reforms that would ensure New Yorkers know who is paying for political campaigns, offer public financing for campaigns to reduce the influence of wealthy donors, and reduce New York's sky-high contribution limits.

This legislation will make government an institution for New Yorkers to be proud of once again, and Governor Cuomo needs your help to get it done.

Call your State Senator today at 518-455-2800 and tell them that it is time to clean up Albany once and for all.

Sincerely,

The Andrew Cuomo Committee
