Dear Friends,
Last night's decision to acquit George Zimmerman was nothing less than an outright failure of the American justice system. As a mother of two young boys, I am outraged by the denial of justice in this case, and my heart and prayers go out to Trayvon Martin's family, who are suffering a second dose of heartbreak today.
Today's news must compel us to reform courtrooms and laws across America so that "Stand Your Ground" never again means disobeying orders from local authorities, engaging in blatant racial profiling and committing murder in cold blood before walking away scot free.
