HIS NAME IS BARATUNDE

I'm Baratunde Thurston. I'm a New Yorker, a tech-loving comedian, and I vote. Regularly.

I'm also supporting Reshma Saujani for New York City Public Advocate.

My grandmother was the first black employee at the Supreme Court Building in Washington, D.C., and my mother took over radio stations in the name of civil rights.

My family has taught me well to question, to experiment, and to take action.

Reshma also questions, experiments, and takes action.

She started the DREAM Fellowship to help undocumented high school kids attend college, and she worked with small business owners to help them get what they need to be successful.

In founding Girls Who Code, Reshma saw the future and took inspired action to expand the pool of people prepared to take advantage of the world, as it will be. I'm looking forward to her doing the same for all of New York City, as Public Advocate.

Also, her name is "Reshma." My name is "Baratunde."

We people of the awesome-but-easy-to-butcher-names must stick together.

We must.

Tonight, I'm hosting a night of live comedy in support of her campaign. Please join me: Kal Penn & Baratunde Thurston- An Event For Reshma Saujani

Best,

Baratunde Thurston
