Dear Lucas --
I want to tell you about a good friend of mine who is running for the New York State Assembly: Victor Pichardo.
When I was elected to the New York State Senate back in 2010, I was faced with a very serious challenge. At that time, the 33rd Senate District had been plagued by a series of elected officials who violated the public trust. It was clear to me that I had a lot of work to do to reestablish that trust.
Unfortunately, we now have a similar situation in the 86th Assembly District - a district that falls almost entirely within my Senate District. The assemblymember was forced to resign, leaving constituents there without representation to this day. I believe that Victor Pichardo is precisely the type of person who can help restore the faith of the constituents of the 86th Assembly District.
