Dear Friend,
Fueled by both the energy of #TeamLiu volunteers and by his trademark See-Food Diet, "John Liu's Relentless Campaign Continues Despite Holiday", The New York Observer noted. Then when The Wall Street Journal called us the "Campaign That Never Rests", John replied: "You know how many people in this city literally have to do hard work? I got it easy."
John still believes in the sacred promise that New York City made with us, and he'll fight to restore it:
Work hard. Dream big.
Then work even harder.
Sometimes work twice as hard as everybody else, even just to get to the same place.
And if you do all that, you'll have the opportunity to make good.
And that's the same with our campaign.
A #TeamLiu crew's enthusiasm was captured just the other day in a WABC Channel 7's story about the race.
Because we've got an election to win and #OneCity to change!
WALL STREET JOURNAL: "Campaign That Never Rests" - 7/6/2013
EXCERPT - Mr. Liu has kept up the grueling pace, even as his campaign lags in the polls. Born in Taiwan, Mr. Liu, 46 years old, has pitched his work ethic as part of a direct appeal to the city's immigrants. "We work hard," he told a group of people of Chinese descent at an Independence Day celebration last Sunday. "Sometimes we work twice as hard as everybody else, even just to get to the same place. And that's the same with this campaign."
Mr. Liu dismissed the idea that his schedule requires special strength. Last Sunday, as he stood at an Independence Day celebration in a Lower East Side park amid oppressive humidity that had people sweating through their clothes, he said he was having fun. "I'm hanging out in the park with nice people," he said. "You know how many people in this city literally have to do hard work 10, 12 hours a day for six or seven days a week? I got it easy." Mr. Liu presses on.
POLITICKER (NEW YORK OBSERVER BLOG): "John Liu's Relentless Campaign Continues Despite Holiday" - 7/5/2013
EXCERPT - But Mr. Liu brushed off suggestions that he was outworking his rivals. Michelle Wu, a healthcare worker and Brooklyn native, was particularly supportive. "We support you! We support you!" she cried. Urged on by his mother to hug Mr. Liu, her 4-year-old son ended up in Mr. Liu’s arms, where the Democratic candidate for mayor tickled him and claimed to be tickled back.
STATEN ISLAND ADVANCE: "John Liu steps up as most mayoral hopefuls shun Staten Island Memorial Day parade" - 6/2/2013
EXCERPT - The Staten Island Memorial Day Parade wasn’t much of a draw for this year’s mayoral candidates, with Democrat John Liu being the notable exception. "Memorial Day isn’t about politics," he said. "It is about honoring the men, women and their families who selflessly serve our country, many of whom gave the ultimate sacrifice. Brave veterans and their families are in all corners of our great city, and many call Staten Island home."
AMSTERDAM NEWS: "Full speed ahead for John Liu" - 5/9/2013
EXCERPT - To catch up with City Comptroller John Liu is no easy task, but Mondays are a good time to get a few minutes with a man campaigning for mayor and, on any given day, visiting nearly every borough in New York City.
