Lucas,
Thank you.
This week, I filed with the New York City Campaign Finance Board, the maximum amount of funds allowed for a Primary race this year for City Council Member. This comes just a month after announcing my candidacy for the City Council, to represent the West Village, Chelsea and Hell's Kitchen.
We "maxed out," as they say.
You did it. You and your neighbors dug into your pockets to invest in this campaign. You did so because you believe a better city is possible and that together we can change the way politics happens in New York City. I am honored and humbled by this support and want to personally thank you for making it possible to fund a grassroots campaign like ours.
As your next City Councilmember for the Lower West Side, I will work every day to serve our community. I will continue to be a strong progressive voice, using my experience and convictions to ensure that our community—all of our community—has access to the best New York City can offer. That includes restoring a hospital to the Lower West Side.
Of course, this campaign is far from over. Throughout 2013, I'll need your help to get our message of progressive change out to the voters of the Lower West Side.
If you have any time to spare, please join us. You can sign up to volunteer at http://www.yettakurland.com/volunteer. Together, we will make a better city for all of us.
In solidarity,
Yetta
