OEM TIP OF THE WEEK: GIVE THE GIFT OF LIFE
January is National Blood Donor Month and OEM encourages New Yorkers to make a difference by donating blood. One pint of donated blood can save up to three lives. Hospitals and blood banks need regular replenishment of blood, especially during the winter months when they are in short supply. Blood products are perishable - donated red cells only last 42 days and platelets last only five days - so it's important to donate regularly.
