LIU: SEVERE FLU SEASON UNDERSCORES NEED FOR PAID SICK LEAVE
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Citing New York City’s increasingly severe flu season, Comptroller John C. Liu reiterated his call for paid sick leave:
"As I said in my State of the City Address, workers without paid sick days are more likely to report to work with contagious illnesses, and in this severe flu season many people may catch the flu at work," Comptroller Liu said. "People who work when they are sick reduce productivity for themselves and others. This is bad for business and it affects us all."
Comptroller Liu pointed New Yorkers to a Department of Health website at which they can find locations where they can get seasonal flu shots.
