Hoping you had wonderful holidays and that 2013 is off to a great start!
It's hard to believe that only four short years ago I began my campaign to become the 13th Borough President of the Bronx, but time has just flown by.
I'm proud of our work to build a great borough for our neighbors. And I hope you agree that we've accomplished so much during the last four years.
Together we've come far. The Bronx is a better, healthier and more vibrant community than when I took office almost four years ago. We've encouraged businesses to move to the Bronx, and we've strengthened the economy for businesses already here. We've provided tens of millions of dollars in funding for our schools to provide the children of the Bronx with the great education they deserve. And we've leveraged $60 million in capital funding into more than $600 million in new housing development – creating thousands of new housing units and jobs in the process. It's all about building better neighborhoods.
Yes, the Bronx is a better place today. But we have so much more to do.
And that's why I'm running for re-election this year—and I hope I can count on your support.
