PROTECTING REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS

Dear New Yorker,

As you may recall, last year the NYC Council announced a new program – the NYC Council Clinic Protection Project – to begin training volunteers to accompany women when they visit reproductive healthcare facilities in NYC. Having such a program in place will help ensure that women and their families can safely access these legally available healthcare services without fear or intimidation.

Although we had to temporarily place the program on hold due to Hurricane Sandy, we are happy to announce that we are moving forward with our new training dates.

Below is the upcoming training schedule:

Thursday, January 24th

6 pm-8 pm

Planned Parenthood of NYC

26 Bleecker Street

Manhattan

Saturday, February 2nd

3 pm-5 pm

Hotel Trades Council

305 West 44th Street

Manhattan

Training will be led by Planned Parenthood of New York City and the New York Civil Liberties Union and will teach conflict de-escalation techniques, as well as ensure that volunteers are familiar with the governing federal, state and local laws. We will be at clinics every Saturday from 8 am to 11 am, starting February 9th.

If you would like to become a volunteer, please RSVP directly to events@council.nyc.gov or 212-442-1649 and indicate which training section you'd be interested in attending.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Christine C. Quinn

Speaker
