Dear Lucas,
East Harlem Democratic District Leaders Peggy Morales and Harry Rodriguez and El Nuevo Caribe Democratic Club President Raul Reyes have endorsed City Councilmember Jessica Lappin to be Manhattan's next Borough President.
"Jessica Lappin has a track record delivering on the issues that are most important to our community," Reyes said. "She's fought to bring new jobs to Manhattan, to build new schools and reduce overcrowding, and to preserve and expand affordable housing throughout the city. Those are the key issues we need our next Borough President to focus on and lead on."
Reyes cited in particular Jessica's key role in bringing the Cornell-Technion applied sciences campus to Roosevelt Island, which will bring tens of thousands of jobs to the city over the next 30 years.
"Jessica has spent her entire life as a Democratic activist, championing progressive causes and fighting for civil rights and social justice," Morales added. "She understands the critical issues that East Harlem faces, and her voice will be a powerful one as our next Borough President."
Rodriguez said, "Jessica Lappin has proven her commitment to improving public education by the key role she played in adding more than 20,000 new seats in schools across the city. She gets results on the issues that matter."
"I'm incredibly proud to have the support of these three key Democratic activists from East Harlem," Lappin said. "Raul, Peggy and Harry are all important leaders in their community and I'm excited to have them join the growing group of grassroots activists, from all across Manhattan, supporting my campaign for Borough President."
Over the past month, Lappin has won endorsements from Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, State Senator Liz Krueger, and State Assemblymembers Micah Kellner and Dan Quart. She has also been endorsed by the United Food & Commercial Workers Local 1500.
