HONORING A LIFE SAVER

BP MARKOWITZ HONORS BROWNSVILLE HEROES WHO SAVED THE LIFE OF 9-YEAR-OLD TAWAIIAN HOLMES

Men Came To Her Rescue After She Was Pinned Beneath a Crashed Car

On Tuesday, January 8, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz issued citations commending six courageous Brownsville residents for heroically working together to save 9-year-old Tawaiian Holmes. Tawaiian was struck by a car and trapped on December 19th while riding her scooter near Livonia and Rockaway Avenues. After witnessing the accident and hearing Tawaiian’s mother screaming for help, the Good Samaritans—Keith Anderson, Christopher Bullock, Arthur Lasane, Rusty Greene, Michael Ward and Ronald Kittles—frantically rushed to the girl’s aid and lifted up the car. The fourth grader suffered two broken legs but survived the accident thanks to her heroes.

“The actions of these men are an inspiration to all of us, and are more proof that when we work together, we can achieve anything,” said BP Markowitz. “Thanks to their quick thinking and teamwork, Tawaiian has the opportunity to reach the zenith of her God-given potential—and what great potential she has—as an honor roll student, and I hope she may be a future Brooklyn Borough President or, even better, President of the United States!”
