Dear Lucas
Our campaign is on a roll.
As you may know, in the past six months we raised more funds than any other candidate running for mayor; we've kick-started our campaign with multiple events daily and outreach across every part of the city; and today, I gave the keynote speech at ABNY, the Association for a Better New York, where I laid out my vision for New York City.
Here are some main points from my speech:
- The next mayor must ensure that New York City remains the safest big city in the country; we must prevent a fiscal crisis from taking hold; focus on infrastructure and post-Sandy rebuilding; and confront the affordability gap which threatens our middle class and working families.
- As someone who successfully presided over the City Comptroller's Office and the School Board, I have the vision, experience, and skill-set to address the City's challenges and stand up for every community in New York City.
- I will implement a Five Borough Opportunity Plan to boost economic development and enhance opportunities in every corner of the City.
- As our next mayor, I will increase the police force to 37,000 (it is currently less than 35,000), and dedicate 1,000 of the new cops to the five precincts with the highest crime rates. I will also fundamentally reform Stop and Frisk and make sure we keep New Yorkers safe while simultaneously respecting their civil liberties.
- Instead of name-calling and vilifying those I disagree with, I will be a mayor who approaches problems in a pragmatic and consensus-based fashion, and focus on every neighborhood in every part of New York City.
I can't thank you enough for your support – it inspires me to fight every day and campaign my heart out.
With your continued help, we won't just win this race; we will bring our city together and make New York greater than ever!
Very truly yours,
