My heartfelt thanks to the hundreds of friends and supporters who have contributed to my City Council campaign so far. Thanks to you we are off to an incredibly strong start, and are winning great headlinesall over town.
I am also thrilled at the support that we are continuing to earn from organized labor, with recent endorsements from the 8,000-member Local 1180 of the Communication Workers of America, and from the brave men and women of the Uniformed Fire Officers Association.
This week's historic passage of gun control legislation in New York State reminds us that the hard work of local politics can indeed positively impact countless lives. Now we must take this fight to the national level, pushing congress to pass Pres. Obama's sweeping plan to reduce gun violence. Join me in signing the promiseto keep fighting for change until this crisis is ended once and for all (and tell your friends, too). Waiting for the next Newtown is simply not an option.
