Dear friends,
For three weeks, parents and children across the city have had to cope with a crippling school bus strike that has disrupted daily routines, caused economic hardship, and limited access to essential support services. Meanwhile, the Mayor is sitting on the sidelines, refusing to get involved.
No one wanted this strike to happen – not the bus drivers, matrons, or mechanics, not the Department of Education, and especially not the parents of the 160,000 children who rely on yellow buses to get to school and back every day.
It is simply unacceptable for the City to not be engaged in the negotiation process. Too many of our children are being denied access to school and the therapies that they are entitled too. In the last 48 hours, hundreds of parents have signed our letter calling on the Mayor acknowledge the City's responsibility in finding resolution to this strike. Click here to add your name.
After you sign our letter, please be sure to forward this email to your friends and family. Together, we can ensure a resolution to this strike that retains the safest, most experienced workforce for our kids and values the bus drivers and matrons that many of us have trusted with our kids' lives for so many years.
Thank you,
Bill de Blasio
