BP MARKOWITZ STATEMENT ON MAYOR BLOOMBERG'S FINAL STATE OF THE CITY ADDRESS
"I was thrilled to join Mayor Bloomberg at his final State of the City Address where New York City begins: in Brooklyn and at Barclays Center, which the Mayor and his administration helped turn from my vision of bringing a professional sports team back to Brooklyn into a spectacular venue that attracts economic activity and visitors from around the world to Downtown Brooklyn. From Greenpoint Landing, BioBAT and Steiner Studios to Steeplechase Plaza and the Domino Sugar Plant, the Mayor outlined initiatives that will create new jobs and continue to make Brooklyn an economic powerhouse. I also look forward to working with Mayor Bloomberg in our final months in office to carry out the bold and forward-thinking proposals outlined in his Address, including a more sustainable city, better schools, an improved digital infrastructure, newer NYCHA and affordable housing, and tourism. And, of course, all of us must work together to rebuild the hardest-hit communities ravaged by Hurricane Sandy, provide job opportunities for residents impacted by the storm, and be sure Brooklyn and the City are prepared for the next big disaster. Bravo to Mayor Bloomberg and his team for ensuring that the state of the city—and Brooklyn—continues to get even better, with our best and brightest days still to come."
