Just days before the Holidays, the Tea Party extremists in Congress have blocked completion of critical, must-pass legislation. Congress needs to act soon to avoid another partisan government shutdown that our country’s economy cannot afford.
Just as awful, the Farm Bill is about to expire while the Tea Party pushes harsh cuts to nutritional assistance programs for hungry children. And Congress hasn't passed the annual defense authorization act, stopped harmful cuts to Medicare physician payments or finished work on an important water resources bill. Yet, Speaker Boehner says their work is done!
Meanwhile, Politico reports that "the House Republican’s campaign arm will hold a tony getaway for donors in New York City" this weekend rather than stay to finish legislative work.
