Got this note from a reader:
The president stated that if I liked my health insurance policy I could keep it. He was wrong.
The president stated that my kids could stay on my policy until age 26. He was wrong.
I am a sole proprietor and had an excellent health insurance group plan through the New York State Bar Association. Although my policy had all of the coverages required under the Affordable Care Act and then some), I was recently informed by my insurance carrier that it could not renew my policy because I have no employees and therefore under the ACA, they can no longer offer me such a group policy and I must purchase a family policy on the exchange. Under the NY exchange, I ONLY QUALIFY FOR A POLICY THAT HAS SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED COVERAGE FROM MY EXISTING POLICY. In addition, my 24-year old daughter can no longer be covered on my policy as she graduated from college and is living in Los Angeles.
Even though my health insurance policy provided coverage superior to the minimum standards of Obamacare, I have to purchase an inferior policy.
I supported Obama. BOY WAS I WRONG!!!!
