Lucas,
We're supposed to be a nation of of, by and for the people, but now it seems like we operate of, by and for corporations.
We can rein in the power-hungry multinationals — but we must act quickly.
Major corporations are pushing the most dangerous attack on our jobs, environment and food safety via "trade pact" ever: the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).
The large corporations that would benefit from this TPP-induced misery are trying to "Fast Track" this corporate gravy train, bypassing Congress and short-changing the legislative process so the TPP could be signed and put into effect ASAP.
Sign our petition and tell Congress to say NO to Fast Track trade authority.
Millions more family-supporting jobs would be offshored. The TPP would leave us powerless to stop the import of unsafe foods and products, threatening the safety of the food we feed our families and the toys our kids play with. Your ability to freely use the Internet without blocked pages or massive fines being threatened for common searches would be undermined. And millions around the world would lose access to lifesaving medications.
Under Fast Track, the president would sign the TPP before Congress could even vote on it. Your representative wouldn't even be allowed to make changes to the TPP to protect working families in your community.
It's Congress' job to make sure trade deals work for everyone, not just major corporations.
Tell Congress that giving away its authority to safeguard us from damaging "trade" deals is totally unacceptable.
Congress must never delegate away its power through granting Fast Track authority and even more so while the TPP is lurking in the shadows.
We can't afford to let the TPP become reality. And it's high time for Big Business to be scaled back and put We the People back in control.
Let's derail this gravy train together.
Until next time,
Maggie Henderson
